Harris Tweed hand embroidered goddess Persephone bag

This Harris tweed bag is part of my 2026 hand embroidered collection featuring goddesses.

This is Persephone a Greek goddess. She is attributed as the goddess of Spring, but also the Queen of the Underworld. These aspects of her are opposites, because she is shifting between the land of the living and the dead.

The hand embroidery is crewel wool thread on a wool backing. It's been stitched on to the pieced together Harris Tweed, which has been selected to complement the embroidery.

The bag itself is a messenger bag design with a top flap, clip fastening and outside zipped pocket. The cotton lining has a orange/blue colour way to match the bag. The shorter handle is genuine cowhide with a quotation by Walt Whitman burned into it. There is a longer detachable webbing strap so the bag can be worn crossbody. Size is approx 30cm x 27cm.
